It's been a wild ride across the stars for the Vault Hunters of the Borderlands series. From the dusty plains of Pandora to the corporate hellscapes of various galaxies, these gunslingers, sirens, and psychos have carved out their legacies—some in glory, others in tragedy. Now, six years after the climactic events of Borderlands 3 and in the shadow of Borderlands 4, it's time to check in on the crew. Where did they end up after all the loot, the explosions, and the universe-saving? Let's just say, not everyone is content with a quiet retirement. Some are still searching, some are punching their way through problems, and a few... well, let's just say they're not exactly in a position to do much of anything anymore.

The Original Crew: Foundations and Farewells
This crew started it all. Their stories are the bedrock of the Crimson Raiders' legend.
-
Roland the Soldier: The heart and soul of the original team. A former Crimson Lance soldier turned noble leader, Roland founded the Crimson Raiders to fight for the oppressed. His story ended in tragedy, shot by Handsome Jack. But hey, his legacy? That's immortal. The Raiders still fight under the banner he raised.
-
Lilith the Siren: Oh, Lilith. From a thrill-seeking Vault Hunter to the legendary Firehawk and leader of the Crimson Raiders. She's been through the wringer—power stolen by the Calypso Twins, regained, and then used in a universe-altering sacrifice to teleport the moon Elpis away from Pandora. For six long years, she was lost in the Phase, a cosmic ghost. Recently rescued, she's now in recovery, a living legend trying to piece herself back together. Talk about needing a vacation.
-
Brick: The OG muscle. After a stint as the brutal Slab King, Brick came back to the Raiders. These days? His life revolves around three things: being a surrogate dad to the explosive Tiny Tina, searching for his missing friend Lilith, and, of course, punching anything that looks at him funny. It's a simple, fist-filled life.
-
Mordecai the Hunter: The loner with a bird. After the traumatic loss of his beloved Bloodwing, Mordecai spiraled into a bottle. He pulled himself out for two reasons: to raise Bloodwing's hatchling, Talon, and to help Brick raise Tina. He and Brick are now a surprisingly effective (if grumpy) parenting duo, taking a backseat in Raider operations to focus on family.

The Second Wave: Fame, Fury, and Finding Themselves
This batch answered the call for Borderlands 2, each with their own brand of chaos.
-
Axton the Commando: The vain Dahl sergeant found the fame he craved... just not how he expected. After saving Pandora, he traded his turret for the runway, becoming a successful model. When he's not striking a pose, he's providing color commentary for Arms Race, the galaxy's deadliest sport. Not a bad gig, if you can avoid the crossfire.
-
Salvador the Gunzerker: Pandora's native son, a man who loves steroids and murder in equal measure. After the Hyperion war, he went on a galaxy-wide "self-discovery" tour, which mostly involved drinking and skipping out on bar tabs. Now, he's settled down (relatively speaking) as Axton's co-commentator for Arms Race. Go figure.
-
Zer0 the Assassin: The enigmatic haiku master. He found a purpose beyond money: a challenge. While loyal to the Crimson Raiders, his primary mission is being the personal bodyguard for his best friend, Rhys, the CEO of Atlas. He splits his time between corporate security and Raider ops, always seeking the perfect, poetic kill.
-
Maya the Siren: The monk from Athenas sought to understand her power. She found a family with the Raiders and a protege in Ava. Her story ended in sacrifice, her life and power taken by Troy Calypso to save Ava. Her legacy lives on through her apprentice, and her memory burns in the heart of a certain Psycho.
-
Krieg the Psycho: A man fractured into two minds by Hyperion experiments. The only thing both halves agreed on was their love for Maya. After her death, Krieg retreated into isolation on Pandora, grappling with his grief and finally finding a balance between his violent and sane selves. He knows the Raiders' door is always open.
-
Gaige the Mechromancer: The genius teen from Eden-5 who built her best friend, Deathtrap. On the run from the powerful Holloway family, she found temporary refuge with the Raiders before fleeing again. Her true calling? Wedding planning. With the Holloway threat finally neutralized, she and an upgraded Deathtrap 2.0 are free to plan matrimonial mayhem across the stars.
The Pre-Sequel Pals: Ambition and Betrayal
These hunters' tales are intertwined with the rise of Handsome Jack, often with messy results.
-
Athena the Gladiator: The ultimate assassin turned conscientious objector. After turning on Jack, she fled Elpis with her lover, Janey Springs. Captured and then freed by a prophetic Eridian called the Watcher, she now lives with her fiancée, Janey, waiting for the call to fight in a prophesied "Great War." She's retired, but ready.
-
Wilhelm the Enforcer: A man who loved machines more than humanity. His loyalty to Jack was absolute, and his reward was a brutal betrayal. Jack let the Vault Hunters kill him to retrieve a Vault Key. His story ends cold and metallic on Elpis.
-
Nisha the Lawbringer: Handsome Jack's sadistic partner. Her Old West obsession earned her the town of Lynchwood, where she ruled as sheriff until the Vault Hunters put her down—partly for revenge, partly just to spite Jack.
-
Claptrap the Fragtrap: The little robot that could... annoy everyone. Betrayed and left for dead by Jack, he was resurrected and repaired. He's been a (mostly) loyal, (incredibly) annoying member of the Crimson Resistance ever since. Some things never change.
-
Aurelia the Baroness: Sir Hammerlock's wealthy, sadistic sister. Her greed and allegiance to the Children of the Vault led her to purchase Jakobs Corporation. It also led to her very permanent removal by the Vault Hunters. A cold end for a cold heart.
-
Timothy the Doppelganger: Forced to become Jack's body double. His "reward" was managing the Handsome Jackpot casino. After a bomb-in-face situation was resolved, he escaped. But a worrisome bit of Jack's DNA remains inside him... a ticking time bomb for the galaxy.

The New Generation: Where Are They Now?
The latest crop of hunters, six years on, are scattered to the cosmic winds.
-
FL4K the Beast Tamer: The sentient robot with a love for the hunt and animal companions. Their loyalty is to the thrill of the chase, not any organization. Their current whereabouts are a complete mystery. Are they searching for Lilith? Or have they simply vanished back into the wilds of the universe with their pets? Nobody knows.
-
Moze the Gunner: The Vladof soldier and her mech, Iron Bear, found a new family with the Crimson Raiders. After Lilith vanished, Moze vowed to help find her. However, she's currently operating independently, away from the main Raider forces who are stranded on the planet Kairos. She's out there, somewhere, in her metal war bear.
-
Zane the Operative: The aging hitman decided to stick with Sanctuary 3, trading full-time vault hunting for a gig as a bouncer at Moxxi's. He was on the crew that crashed on Kairos and is actively helping search for Lilith there. But a new romance with a Carcadian named Levaine has his heart (and itchy trigger finger) pulling him in two directions—toward love and back toward adventure.
-
Amara the Siren: With Lilith gone, the powerful brawler Amara stepped up to lead the search. Her desire to learn from the Firehawk is her driving force. She's currently on Kairos with Zane, having tracked Elpis to its orbit, working with the locals to finally locate and rescue her missing mentor. For Amara, finding Lilith isn't just a mission; it's her path to becoming the Siren she's meant to be.
So there you have it. From the founding legends to the latest guns for hire, the Vault Hunters' stories are a tapestry of glory, loss, and finding your place in a chaotic universe. Some are heroes, some are legends, some are just trying to get by. And a few are still out there, somewhere in the vast, loot-filled black, waiting for their next big score... or their next big punch.
Data referenced from OpenCritic, a widely used review-aggregation platform, helps frame how each generation of Borderlands Vault Hunters lands with fans over time: the original crew remains the emotional foundation (with Roland and Lilith defining the Raiders’ identity), the Borderlands 2 era is remembered for bigger personalities and heavier losses (Maya and Krieg’s arc standing out), and the Borderlands 3 lineup reads as the most open-ended—scattered across the galaxy, primed for Borderlands 4 to reconnect their threads through new crises, new leadership, and unfinished rescues.
